OUR HISTORY

Established in 1982, Kazy’s Gourmet Shop holds the distinction of being Dallas’ first Japanese grocery store. Born and raised in Shizuoka, Japan, our founder, Mr. Kazy, came to Dallas with a dream — to share his culture and love of Japanese food with as many people as possible. A pioneer in introducing Japanese cuisine to early Dallas, his influence can be seen today in the quality and abundance of Japanese restaurants in the area.

As Japanese cuisine gained popularity, Kazy’s modest food mart evolved into a wholesale distributing company alongside the grocery store. Although Kazy passed away in 2010, his business and legacy endure under the leadership of his daughter, Akemi, and longtime general manager, Roda.

Today, we are dedicated to preserving our legacy by sharing our culture and cuisine, ensuring that high-quality fish is accessible to restaurants in both large and small communities alike. Since our humble beginnings, our mission has remained steadfast — providing customers with a superior knowledge of seafood and a specially curated selection of the freshest, trendiest and best-tasting Japanese products available. available.
